How to convert a Chase statement to Excel
Chase lets you download recent account activity as a CSV, but the monthly statements — up to seven years of them — are PDFs. Here is how to turn a Chase checking or credit card statement into an Excel sheet or the file your accounting or budgeting app imports.
Step by step
1. Download the statement PDF from Chase
Sign in to chase.com or the Chase Mobile app, open Statements & documents, pick the account and the month, and download the PDF. Chase keeps up to seven years of statements online, depending on the account type.
2. Upload it to the converter
Drop one or more Chase PDFs into the converter. Several months can go in one batch and come out as one table, in the order you upload them.
3. Pick the file you need
Excel or CSV for a spreadsheet; QBO for QuickBooks; the Quicken import CSV for Quicken; QIF or OFX for other finance apps; or the import CSV for YNAB, Monarch Money, Actual Budget or Copilot Money.
4. Check the totals
Compare the sum of the amounts with the statement’s own summary (payments and credits, purchases, fees, interest on a card; deposits and withdrawals on checking). If they match, nothing was missed.
Chase’s own download or the PDF?
The account activity download is the quickest way to get recent transactions into a spreadsheet, and it is free. The statement PDF is the record Chase issued for the month, with the opening and closing balance your accountant or lender will compare against, and it is the only way to get the older months out. Converting it keeps every transaction exactly as printed on the statement.
Frequently asked questions
Can I export a Chase statement to Excel directly?
Not the statement itself: Chase statements are PDFs. Chase does let you download account activity as a CSV or in account software formats from the account activity page, which covers the period that download offers. For older months, or when you need the statement exactly as issued, convert the PDF.
How far back can I get Chase statements?
Chase shows up to seven years of statements online, depending on the account type. Each one downloads as a PDF, and all of them can be converted.
Does it work with Chase credit card statements?
Yes — Sapphire, Freedom, Slate and other Chase cards. Purchases, fees and interest come out as money out and payments and refunds as money in, which is what QuickBooks, Quicken, YNAB and Monarch expect.
What does it cost?
The first 3 pages of your first upload are free, with no account. After that it is $0.20 a page with a $3.90 minimum per batch, and no subscription.
