QFX to QIF converter
Upload a .qfx file and download a .qif with the same transactions — date, payee and signed amount — in the plain-text format older and open-source finance apps read. A credit card QFX comes out as a !Type:CCard file, so it imports into a card account.

What the QIF file contains
- Every transaction in the QFX, in the same order
- D for the date as MM/DD/YYYY, P for the payee, T for the signed amount
- The QFX’s payee and memo joined into one payee line, so nothing is lost
- !Type:Bank or !Type:CCard, matching the account the QFX describes
What changes between QFX and QIF
A QFX is OFX with Intuit’s bank ID: structured records, a transaction ID on each line and the currency in the file. QIF is older and flatter, so a few things have nowhere to go.
| In the QFX | In the QIF | Notes |
|---|---|---|
<DTPOSTED> | D | Written MM/DD/YYYY. |
<NAME> and <MEMO> | P | Joined into one line. |
<TRNAMT> | T | The same signed amount. |
<CREDITCARDMSGSRSV1> | !Type:CCard | A card file stays a card file. |
<FITID> | — | QIF has no transaction ID, so importing the same period twice gives duplicates. |
<CURDEF>, account number, <INTU.BID> | — | QIF carries no currency, account or bank ID; you choose the account on import. |
What the QIF file looks like
The .qif you download. !Type:Bank opens the account; each block is one transaction from your QFX, ended by ^.

^Importing into Quicken
Quicken for Windows imports QIF into cash, asset and liability accounts only. For a checking, savings or credit card account, import the QFX itself if your bank still offers Web Connect, or upload the QFX here and choose Quicken in the format menu: Quicken’s CSV import takes that file into any of those accounts. See bank statement to Quicken.
How to convert
Upload the QFX file
Drop in the .qfx your bank or Quicken produced. An .ofx file works the same way.
Keep QIF selected
QIF is already the selected output on this page.
Import the QIF
Open your finance app’s QIF import and pick the account the transactions belong to.
Statements it handles
Layouts differ from bank to bank, so nothing is matched against a fixed template. An unusual statement still produces a table you can check before exporting — which is what makes it usable for bookkeepers and accountants who receive statements from every client.
PDF statements and CSV exports
A statement downloaded from your bank, or the CSV your bank lets you export. Both arrive as the same clean table.
Multi-page statements, read as one table
A statement that runs over several pages — or several statements uploaded together — is read as one continuous table, not one file per page.
Amounts and dates kept as your bank prints them
Debit and credit signs, decimal places and date formats are left as printed, so the numbers still reconcile against the statement.
Scanned, image-only PDFs, read with OCR
A statement with no text layer is read with OCR and may need a quick review — the one case where a row can come out wrong.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert QFX to QIF?
Upload the .qfx above, keep QIF selected and download the .qif file. No account and nothing to install.
Why convert a QFX to QIF?
Some apps read QIF but not OFX, and a QIF is easy to read and edit in a text editor. It is also the format older Quicken data and Microsoft Money exports use, so it is a common bridge when moving between programs.
Will Quicken import the QIF?
Quicken for Windows imports QIF into cash, asset and liability accounts, not checking, savings or credit card accounts. For those, choose Quicken in the format menu and use Quicken’s CSV import.
What is lost going from QFX to QIF?
The transaction IDs, the currency and the account number — QIF has no fields for them. Dates, payees, memos and amounts all come across.
Is it free?
Each QFX file counts as one page, and the first 3 pages of your first upload are free. After that it is $0.20 a file with a $3.90 minimum per batch.
Is my file kept after conversion?
No. The file is deleted when the conversion finishes; only the converted copy stays at your private link.
